East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 006

Well day six starts with another cold night, very cold. I was warm all bundled up in my sleeping bag and wearing a toque but when I had to go out and use the facilities, damn was it cold.

I usually will use my fleece or hoodie as a pillow when I camp just to carry less stuff but since I was wearing my fleece most of the time I realised I needed to get me a pillow. (...)

East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 005

Day five. I thought I'd be smart an pack up what I could the previous night so it wouldn't take long to get going in the morning. Well it seems this doesn't work at least for me.

It took me two and one half hours to get going this morning with the majority of the time being the disassembly and packing of the tent. Especially when it is wet. Then trying to stuff it back in to its original bag.

After leaving the camp site I choose to take the ferry across the Ottawa river.  (...)

East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 004

Woke up today to another cool and cloudy day. Headed in to Ottawa to do some site seeing. I travelled along the highway to save time but man was it cold and windy heading in to Ottawa.

I was going to do some site seeing in Ottawa but upon arriving the traffic was heavy so it was off to Orleans to Wheelsport, another Ontario Ural dealer. (...)

East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 003

Today started out like the other days, cloudy and looking to rain. The sun started to poke through as I was getting ready to ride.

I crossed in to Quebec and made my way up to Morin Heights to take some pictures of Le Studio.

If you are a Rush fan or April Wine or The Police or the Bee Gees or David Bowie, ya , well they all have recorded here at one time or another. It is called Rush's Abbey Road. (...)

East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 002

So today is memory lane day. Going to head in to a couple of small towns that I used to live in plus visit the most eastern point of Ontario by road.

But first things first. It rained all night. The tent held up, no leaks.

So heading west from Voyager Provincial Park the wind was quite strong. It made for a colder more tiring ride. (...)

East Coast Trip 2016 - Day 001

So this is the trip I wanted to do last year but because of the phantom electrical problem on the bike and work I postponed the trip.

Having learned from last years little trip I gathered all the stuff in to one pile in my apartment. This made the loading much quicker. The only problem was the weather.

Park to Park Trail 2015

So one of the places I wanted to go on my Great Lakes Coast line trip was the Park to Park trail. Thanks to my taking that old logging road that part of the trip never happened.

So a month later, the bike is all repaired and while the weather is still nice and the leaves are changing in to their fall colours, I decide it's time to do the Park to Park. (...)

Where Did I Put That Wrench?

So after a day or two I go down to start some oil change on the rig and I notice I have a flat on the rear.

O.K. I can fix this.
So I go through the procedure, get my TMT 3 out, get my tire fix box out and off I go.

Fixed that flat in no time (a very tiny 1/2" finishing nail punctured the tube) with my tube repair kit and my trusty TMT 3.

Now that I have the tire off on the rear I change the final drive oil plus grease the splines on the final drive and (...)

Great Lakes Coast Line Trip 2015: Epilogue

So the trip is over, the bike has been repaired, pictures and videos have been uploaded and the trip has been documented.

Thirteen days total with 2265 kilometres (by the Garmin) traveled. The weather was spectacular with temperatures in the high twenties and low thirties for the majority of the trip. It rained once while riding for an hour or two. Three nights it rained with one being a heavy thunder and lightning downpour. (...)

Great Lakes Coast Line Trip 2015: Day Thirteen

Day thirteen, my last day of the trip. Not because I want it to end but because I have to get the bike fixed.

So after spending yesterday visiting with an old friend, today is trying to travel 150 kilometres so I can get my free tow from CAA. (...)
