So my worst fear for the bike is confirmed. It is not something simple like a push rod or a rocker arm but it is a failure of the bearings between the crank and the piston rod.

 I could still ride it, maybe get another thousand kilometres out of it but all that aluminium floating around would just shred the inside of the motor.

Lutz is kind enough to let me keep the bike inside his shop until I leave.

I have a lot of relatives in the Halifax/Dartmouth area so I'll be staying at the camp ground for a week at least.

After talking with Lutz the follwing Monday I grab a taxi in to town to rent a car for a week. It would probably been cheaper to buy a used junked but rideable motorcycle but where can you find one of these when you need it.

So the rest of the week was just visiting relatives. I did visit Peggy's Cove and the Swissair 111 monument just south of Peggy's Cove.

So after visiting relatives it was time to get the bike back to a shop. My choices were, the shop in Newfoundland, the shop outside of Montreal or OVC in Acton, ON.

Not knowing much about the Newfoundland shop plus taking my bike further away from home I decided no to that.

The shop outside of Montreal is probably the biggest and busiest in Canada. I know I would get the bike fixed but how long would it take plus I would have to camp or grab a hotel in the area. More money out of my pocket. 

So the choice was OVC. Only five hours further than the Montreal shop and I would be at home saving money plus be able to get work if I wanted. 

So I pre ordered a Screw-U truck. I will not say their name because they have to be the worse customer service company I have ever had the displeasure to work for. Yes I had to pay them over one thousand dollars to work for them.

The place where I wanted to pick up the truck, close to the camp ground, that was available when I booked it online. Not available, I had to go where they wanted.

The truck I had booked online which said it would be available, well it wasn't. 

Sir we will give you a bigger truck for the same price. O.K. will you pay for the difference in fuel for driving a bigger truck? Of course not. Remember you paid us to work for us.

Dropping the truck off at the place close to home that was available when I ordered the truck. Nope you can't drop it off there you have to take to this place which is kilometres away from where you live and no decent public transportation. That is right in your contract sir which states that you pay use to work for us to move our vehicles wherever we want.

Fuck them.

So I get the bike back to OVC and they rip it apart and the crank to piston rod bearings were gone. They also found the clutch shaft was worn and it would have failed in a few thousand kilometres.

Thankfully it was all covered under warranty but I still question why the bearings would fail at 22,000 kms and the why would the clutch shaft fail unless it was made of soft metal?

So all said and done my Garmin says I had travelled 5,760.5 kilometres over 21 days which would average out at 274 kilometres a day.

Sure the weather wasn't perfect to start out with but I saw a lot of beautiful places and met a lot of good people.

I will say I am still a fan of camping but I am not a fan of setting up a tent or tearing it down in the rain. I have my eyes one one of those small tent trailers that you can tow behind a motorcycle.

Maybe next year, 2017, when I plan to finish this trip.
