Another glorious day. It looks like it is going to be a nice warm sunny day.

Pack up the tent and I start heading out towards Five Islands Provincial Park. It should only take about six to seven hours if all goes well.

I follow the coast line on the route called The Sunshine Trail. One of the small towns I pass through is called Tatamagouche.

In town there is the Tatamagouche Brewery. Since my growler was empty I took this chance to fill it up. And guess waht? No hassles. They didn't make me buy a growler then I would have to fill mine up with it. Nope just a quick rinse and they poured straight from the tap in to my growler.

And the best part, damn good beer.

I continue on my way enjoying the nice day and the scenery and roads.

Evenually I pass through Amherst and that means I'm past the halfway mark. I had made reservations the day before to make sure I had a camp site.

I stop at an old government barn to top up the fuel, add some oil and eat an energy bar.

Off I go and not fifteen minutes later I hear a banging noise.

O.K. I think, something strapped to the bike came loose. So I pull over and check all my stuff and all looks good.

O.K. maybe I'm hearing things. Start the bike up and off I go.

Damn! There is that banging noise again. I pull over and I check the oil. Maybe I broke the dip stick off in the engine.

Nope.

Lots of oil.

O.K. Now I take my helmet off so I can hear better.

Start the bike up and start rolling slowly down the road and the banging noise is coming from the motor.

Shit.

It sounds like it is coming from the right cylinder but if I listen closely on the left I can hear it. I think, more so I hope, that it is just a rocker arm or valve or push rod.

Well I'm not taking any chances so I call CAA and wait about two hours before Sparkle Brite Auto & Towing shows up. And they have a nice large trailer to load the bike on. Whille I was waiting I call Five Islands Provincial Park and tell them I won't be arriving there. Knowing I canceled with less than 24 hours means I paid for a camp site I've never been too.

A picture of where the bike broke down.

So the only place to go is Kottwitz Werke, just outside of Halifax. I can get the famous Lutz to work on my bike.

When we arrive no one is there. probably closed for the day or weekend.

No problem. We unload the bike and Allen and Sylvia were kind enough to take me and all my crap up the road the the nearest camp ground.

I grab a place for a few days and unload my stuff and thank Allen and Sylvia for their help.

After I get the tent up and all set up I call Lutz just to let him know why there is a Ural outside of his shop.

As I was having a few beers as the night went on Lutz calls me and iforms me he retired as a service centre on Friday!

Shit!

Anyhow I asked if the bike could stay there until Monday and I would figure something.

I spent Sunday having beers, that fine Tatamagouche beer, and started to edit some photos on the computer.
